A new underground garage at the Côte-Vertu station

Inaugurated in June 2022, the underground garage for the parking and maintenance of Azur trains, attached to the Côte-Vertu station, represents a major advancement for the orange line transit network. This infrastructure allows for the addition of trains and an increase in frequency during peak hours, thereby responding to the increased ridership on this line and supporting the growth of service offerings with the extension of the metro's blue line.

Surface buildings

Three buildings located on the surface provide access to and operation of the garage:

  • Standing three stories high, the main building is located directly above the garage. It serves as the primary access point for employees and houses mechanical rooms.
  • The two auxiliary structures serve as emergency exits and access to a mechanical ventilation station.

The garage, built almost entirely underground, includes 10 parking and maintenance tracks for metro trains. The three surface buildings facilitate access to and operation of this underground infrastructure.

Contribution of the architecture team

The architectural consortium, composed of the firms STGM, Jodoin Lamarre Pratte, and Bisson Fortin, participated in the entire project. Their work included the design of access points, technical spaces, work and rest areas, as well as the completion of hardware and wrought metals, all essential for the proper functioning of the garage.

The project received an Envision Platinum Award for its sustainable infrastructure, a first in Canada for a public transit project.
