Under the supervision of Patrick Masson, Director of Expertise and Head of the Building Envelope Practice, the Building Envelope Project Manager is responsible for conducting a complete analysis of the envelope of the assigned buildings, both vertically and horizontally. He or she must identify the determining factors that can influence the deterioration of the components of the envelope and produce a precise technical report (waterproofing, insects, air, steam, thermal, etc.). This person will be required to be physically on site, boarding lifts to assess 20-storey high buildings, among others!
The key skills of the role are listening, analyzing, validating, teamwork, problem solving and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Your main responsibilities
Be the point of contact for interpretation and all things related to the building envelope;
Take the practice further and think outside the box to find the best solutions, not being afraid to challenge the status quo or question yourself;
Work in co-leadership with different leads and experts in envelope to understand, analyze and evaluate the behavior of a building envelope and synthesize it in an expert report.
The person we are looking for
Degree in construction engineering, architecture, engineering or other equivalent degree;
5-10+ years of experience in architecture OR building mechanics OR other relevant experience;
Strong interest in building expertise and envelope, experience in the field is a strong asset;
Good knowledge of the Quebec construction code;
Knowledge of the energy code, an asset;
Good knowledge of AutoCAD (Asset), Microsoft Office suite, Bluebeam, THERM (Asset), Wufi (Asset);
ASP construction card, an asset;
Able to travel easily (geographical limits of Quebec);
Excellent knowledge of spoken and written French;
Competency card for working at heights (an asset).
Job description
Conduct surveys and identify apparent conditions affecting the vertical and horizontal building envelope through inspections, tests, exploratory drilling, surveys, infrared thermography, etc.;
Produce technical reports (files) for clients and results tables;
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams for expertise (clients and subcontractors);
Ensure the follow-up and the respect of the project schedule;
Ensure the follow-up and the respect of the budget;
Understand and use electronic reading instruments (manometer, tramex, etc..);
Evaluate the continuity of the air, water, vapor and thermal sealing plans of the envelope;
Prepare survey drawings on Bluebeam;
Participate in meetings;
Use lifting equipment (crane, aerial bucket, etc.) and work at heights;
Develop and maintain a relationship of trust with your team and your clients;
Work between the office and the outdoors, in all seasons and even at night.
